Cyclone Leaves 18 Dead, 50,000 Homeless

Eighteen people were killed and at least 50,000 were left homeless after Cyclone Gafilo hit the giant Indian Ocean island of Madagascar.
Foreign Minister Marcel Ranjeva appealed for international aid. France, the nation’s former colonial ruler, was flying in an emergency water treatment facility for 20,000 people and shelter for 10,000.
