Courtney Love arrested in N.Y.
Courtney Love faced reckless endangerment and third-degree assault charges Thursday in New York after allegedly throwing a microphone stand into the audience during a performance and injuring a man.
The rock singer was arrested after the show at the Plaid nightclub, where the incident sent the 24-year-old victim to a hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.
Love was apparently unaware of the injury and continued with the show, and witnesses gave varying accounts of the intent and intensity of Love’s action. Love’s drummer, Samantha Maloney, told CBS News that Love wasn’t even using a microphone stand.
Love, who is currently fighting charges of illegal possession of painkillers in Los Angeles County, was processed and released by New York police and is scheduled to appear in court April 19. A spokeswoman for the singer issued a statement Thursday saying, “We are presently investigating the charges. There is a pending court date and we believe she will be vindicated.”
