It’s a Record Day for USC’s Sandeno

COLLEGE STATION, Texas —  USC junior Kaitlin Sandeno won the 200-meter individual medley with a time of 2:08.11, setting NCAA and U.S. Open records on the first day of the NCAA Division I women’s swimming championships.

Georgia set a world record in the 200-meter freestyle relay with a time of 1 minute 37.27 seconds in the first event of the championships, which also featured three American records, four U.S. Open records and five NCAA records.

Arizona’s Emily Mason had an NCAA record time of 4:01.58 in winning the 400-meter freestyle. USC freshman Kalyn Keller finished second in 4:02.21, setting a school record.

Kara Lynn Joyce swam the first leg on Georgia’s 200-meter freestyle relay team, then set NCAA, U.S. Open and American records in winning the 50-meter freestyle in 24.21. She also swam the anchor leg as the Bulldogs won the 400-meter medley relay in 3:56.48, setting NCAA, U.S. Open and American records.
