Azusa Pacific Wins, 112-79
Azusa Pacific recorded its highest point total in the NAIA Division I tournament when it defeated Voorhees College of Denmark, S.C., 112-79, in a first-round game Thursday in Kansas City.
The second-seeded Cougars (32-4) won their 19th consecutive game, topping the 104 points they scored in a 1998 first-round victory over Huston-Tillotson of Austin, Texas.
Azusa Pacific will play Mobile (Ala.) today. Voorhees finished with a 12-18 record.
Defending champion Irvine Concordia (30-4) beat Saint Xavier (Ill.), 82-72, late Wednesday night in its first-round game. Concordia plays John Brown (Ark.) today.

Luke Jackson scored Oregon’s final six points to lead the Ducks (18-12) to a 65-61 victory over Notre Dame (19-13) in a quarterfinal game at South Bend, Ind..... Iowa State (20-12) also advanced to next Tuesday’s semifinals at Madison Square Garden with a 77-64 victory over Marquette (19-12) at Ames, Iowa.
