Residents Must Pay $15,000 Per Hydrant
From Times Wire Reports
East County residents who lost their homes in the October wildfires will have to pay up to $15,000 for each new fire hydrant ordered by local fire departments, the Padre Dam Municipal Water District said.
Board members estimated that 58 hydrants were needed in Alpine, Crest, Harbison Canyon and Lakeside.
The water district is responsible for installing fire hydrants but not paying for them.
