*--* FIRST TEAM Pos. Player, School Yr. F Richard Flores, Animo Leadership Sr. UCLA signee had 45 goals and seven assists in 23 games for a program in its second year of varsity competition. F B.J. Pugmire, Esperanza Sr. Had a team-high 24 goals and 18 assists to help Aztecs win the Southern Section Division I championship. He is headed to Brigham Young. F Joel Walker, Newport Harbor Sr. Scored 35 goals in 23 games while leading Newport Harbor to the quarterfinals of the Division II playoffs. M Chukwudi Chijindu, Damien Sr. Sierra League’s MVP had 22 goals and 21 assists while leading his team to a 26-3-2 record. M Adolfo Espinoza, Alta Loma Sr. Baseline League’s MVP had 13 goals and 13 assists while leading his team to the second round of the Division I playoffs. M Patrick Morrison, Loyola Sr. Southern Section Division II offensive player of the year had nine goals and 12 assists as Cubs reached the Division II title game. D Javier Delgadillo, Bell Gardens Sr. Almont League’s MVP anchored a defense that posted 14 shutouts and did not give up a goal in the first four rounds of the Division I playoffs. D Tim Jepson, Esperanza Sr. Duke signee was selected as Southern Section Division I defensive player of the year after Aztecs posted 15 shutouts. D Mike Randolph, Ayala Sr. Whether playing defender or forward, was the standout player on a team that surprised many by advancing to the Division I quarterfinals. D Alex Tocco, Long Beach Poly Sr. Moore League’s MVP anchored a defense that gave up only six goals in 12 league games. Also contributed some keys goals and assists. G Chris Seitz, San Luis Obispo Jr. Gatorade’s state player of the year posted 10 shutouts in 17 games. He missed nine because of commitments to club or national teams. Coach of the Year: Jake Gwin, Canoga Park Gwin and assistant David Perez guided the Hunters to a 19-1-2 record and its first City Section title after finishing 1-11-1 last year.
