Legendary Dreamer Hits Stride in Southland
A move to Southern California has agreed with Legendary Dreamer.
Seventh in an eight-horse field in his lone start in Idaho last year, the 3-year-old Chicks Beduino gelding has won both of his races at Los Alamitos and will try to remain perfect locally in tonight’s fifth race, a $13,450 allowance at 350 yards.
Trained by Blane Schvaneveldt for owners Mark and Peggy Brown, Legendary Dreamer defeated maidens by a half-length at 7-1 on March 25, then came back three weeks later to win an allowance race by a length as the 11-10 choice.
Jockey Carlos Bautista, who was aboard for both of the victories, remains this evening.
The rest of the field, from the inside out, includes One Blow Ko, Trend And Blend, Dashing Perry, Lets Have A Corona, Appeals King Special, Harleys Comet, Strawflynfancy and Erato, who has been first, second or third in his last six starts.
The picks: 1. Open Name. 2. Mr Mongoose Bug. 3. Bold Passer. 4. Corona Road Runner. 5. Legendary Dreamer. 6. Kelly’s Hat. 7. He Roves. 8. Its Good To Be Queen.
Four! Legendary Dreamer in the fifth, Kayo Too, Kelly’s Hat and Continental Trail in the sixth, Ib Chick Quick, Coolmore, He Roves and Tricky Injun in the seventh and Its Good To Be Queen and Knud Dreams in the eighth.
Shots in the dark: Some Gave All is dropped a notch by trainer Concepcion Balderrama in the second. Irish Viking is shipped in from Turf Paradise by trainer Troy Bainum in the third.
