The hotter it gets, the more I want out of the apartment overlooking the lady of the lake in my beloved Echo Park. I escape the heat, and get my daily exercise, by writing a play in my extended paddleboat rental in the middle of Echo Park Lake. By July I have the linen suit out and the rock en espanol on the iPod as I sip watermelon margaritas in the patio at Ciudad, hopefully after a provocative performance at REDCAT. This summer I will be standing in line for the Almodovar film at a Laemmle theater, because not only am I a Latino, I am a gay Latino, and Almodovar is our saint.
