A Better Way to Run a Tollway
Re “Third Wall St. Firm Lowers Tollway Bonds to Junk Status,” May 26: Close the road to cars, trucks, anything motorized. Open it 24/7 to bicyclists, skaters, runners, pedestrians and rickshaws. Sell season passes for $200, day passes for $15. Sell merchant licenses to those seeing a market along the toll road for their goods and/or services. This could mean anything from water dispensers to artwork. Local musicians might also find opportunities here, as well as local organizations and charities with annual festivals. Engage law and paramedic teams. Set up trash collection areas with receptacles for recyclable and nonrecyclable items, and porta-potties with the most updated technology. Rename it the San Joaquin Hills Hallway.
