Retired judge Bill Lee, the runner-up in the Republican gubernatorial primary in 2000, won his party’s nomination for Delaware governor, setting up a November showdown with Democratic Gov. Ruth Ann Minner.

The retired Superior Court judge won 70.5% of the vote, compared with 23.6% for airline pilot Michael Protack. Accountant David Graham had 5.9%.

“We’re happy. We hit our marks,” Lee said.

Turnout was lighter than predicted, with both parties sending 10% of eligible voters to the polls.
