Council Panel Backs City as Host of 2032 Olympics

A City Council committee Monday endorsed the idea of holding the Olympics in Los Angeles in 2032.
“I think the Olympics brings people together,” said Councilman Tom LaBonge, who proposed the idea.
Councilmen Martin Ludlow and Greig Smith, who sit on the Conventions, Tourism, Entertainment and Business Enterprise Committee, agreed.
Los Angeles played host to the Summer Games in 1932 and 1984 and has bid for the Olympics at least 10 times.
Most recently, the city bid for the 2012 games.
