Father Accidentally Backs Over 1-Year-Old
A 1-year-old girl was in critical condition Monday after her father accidentally ran her over while backing out of the driveway, police said.
MacKenzie Hovis was taken to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana, where she was being treated for collapsed lungs and other injuries, police said.
Robert Hovis, 39, was slowly backing up his 1989 Chevrolet Silverado pickup in the 700 block of Fairway Drive about 11:30 a.m. Sunday when he heard a thump and a neighbor screaming for him to stop.
An investigation is underway.
No charges have been filed against the father.
