2000 Kante Malvasia

Friuli, the northern Italian wine region that shares a border with Croatia, is known for its crisp, minerally whites. But here’s an unusual one even for Friuli, a dry Malvasia made from the local Malvasia Istriana grape variety.

The scent is wildflowers, peaches and honey -- summer in a glass -- and the texture is reminiscent of Viognier. Bone dry, the 2000 has a bright snap of citrus and a strong minerality that makes this Kante Malvasia ideal as an aperitif or with food. Pour it with grilled fish or shrimp, seafood stews or calamari.
