Free Roadside Help Set for Freeways

Legislation signed Tuesday will free state funding for a team of tow trucks to provide free emergency roadside help on several freeways.
Nineteen counties are already served by freeway patrol programs. The state would fund 75% of the cost of the patrols from state gasoline tax revenue, with the balance coming from a local half-cent sales tax. The patrols are to start in July on Interstates 10, 15 and 215 and California 60.
