FBI Ordered to Release Last 10 Pages on Lennon
A federal judge ordered the FBI on Tuesday to release the last 10 pages of its secret files on former Beatle John Lennon to a UC Irvine professor.
Jonathan M. Wiener, who wrote a 1984 book on the late rock star, has waged a 21-year legal battle to get the files under the Freedom of Information Act. So far, he has received 248 pages of documents.
U.S. District Judge Robert Takasugi rejected the government’s argument that releasing the 10 pages would compromise national security because an unnamed foreign government -- believed to be Britain -- provided the information in confidence.
