4-Year-Old Boy Alerts Mailman to House Fire
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
A 4-year-old riding his bike saw smoke coming from a house and notified a postal carrier in time to save the home.
“He told the mailman, ‘I’m not kidding! I’m not kidding! I’m not kidding! There’s a fire!’ ” said preschooler Bailey Couturier’s grandmother, Paula Couturier.
The mailman called 911, and firefighters extinguished the fire, which had started in a woodpile.
When Louisa Lopez, 29, returned home, Bailey told her: “Excuse me, excuse me! Your house got caught on fire!”
Lopez and her husband said they will find a way to thank the boy.
