A Parent’s Job
Re “Parents Use Newfound Clout to Demand School Improvements,” April 14: I await the day when more parents recognize the relationship between “rights” and “responsibilities.” If they sent their kids to school with an attitude of respect toward teachers and other students, there would be an environment in which teachers could teach and students could learn. Then, perhaps, this newfound “attitude” would also encourage respect for materials (i.e. textbooks) and facilities (i.e. bathrooms). Money now spent on lost or destroyed books and willfully damaged facilities could be used for other improvements.
