Wiggins’ 20 Keep Stanford Rolling

Candice Wiggins overcame a slow start to score 20 points, and No. 4 Stanford won its 12th straight with a 67-53 home victory over Arizona State on Saturday.

Wiggins started the game two for eight from the field. She scored 15 points in the second half and finished six for 13.

Brooke Smith added 15 points for Stanford (21-2, 12-1 Pac-10), which extended its home winning streak to 19 games and won its 35th straight conference game in Maples Pavilion.

Kylan Loney scored 13 points for the Sun Devils (15-7, 7-5).

No. 6 Notre Dame 75, Pittsburgh 47 -- Reserve Courtney LaVere led Notre Dame’s 14-0 run late in the first half and the Irish won their seventh straight.

LaVere scored 11 of her 17 points in the first half for Notre Dame (20-3, 8-2 Big East).

Marcedes Walker had 13 points and 11 rebounds before fouling out with 6:32 left for host Pitt (11-10, 3-7).

No. 8 Baylor 52, No. 12 Texas Tech 49 -- Sophia Young had 24 points and 10 rebounds for Baylor, which won in Lubbock for the first time since 1982. The Bears are 17-3, 7-2 Big 12. Erin Grant scored 11 for Tech (16-4, 7-2).

No. 11 Connecticut 71, Providence 24 -- Willnett Crockett scored 16 points and Connecticut limited host Providence to six first-half points.

Connecticut (15-5, 8-1 Big East) was 15 for 30 in the first half and led, 40-6, at the break as Providence (1-19, 0-9) missed 23 of its 25 shots from the field.

No. 19 Iowa State 73, No. 13 Texas 69 -- Megan Ronhovde made a tiebreaking three-pointer with 28 seconds left and Anne O’Neil followed with four straight free throws to lift the Cyclones at home.

O’Neil and Lyndsey Medders each had 19 points for Iowa State (18-2, 8-1 Big 12). The Longhorns are 13-7, 6-3.

No. 15 Kansas State 66, Oklahoma State 55 -- Laurie Koehn scored 13 points and Kendra Wecker added 11 points and 11 rebounds for her 45th double-double at home for the Wildcats (17-4, 8-2 Big 12).

The Cowgirls (6-13, 1-8) have lost eight of their last nine.

St. John’s 69, No. 16 Boston College 52 -- Greeba Barlow had 19 points to lead the Red Storm (16-5, 5-5 Big East) to its first win over a ranked team in 12 years.

Brooke Queenan scored 11 for the host Eagles (15-5, 6-3).

No. 17 DePaul 70, Louisville 60 -- Khara Smith had 18 points and 15 rebounds on the road for the Blue Demons (18-3, 7-1 Conference USA), who won their seventh straight game and ended a six-game winning streak for the Cardinals (15-6, 6-2).

Texas Christian University’s Sandora Irvin broke the NCAA Division I women’s record for blocked shots when she had eight in the Lady Frogs’ 74-64 win over Memphis. Irvin has 434 career blocked shots in 116 games; Genia Miller had 428 blocked shots in 118 games for Cal State Fullerton from 1987 to ’91.... Jessica Lawson scored 19 points and had 12 rebounds to help California (9-13, 3-10 Pac-10) end a 19-game losing streak to Arizona (15-8, 7-5) with a 70-61 win at Berkeley.
