No. 22 Maryland Cruises to Victory
John Gilchrist and Nik Caner-Medley each scored 17 points Tuesday night at College Park, Md., and No. 22 Maryland (9-2) cruised to its fifth consecutive victory, 85-53 over Mount St. Mary’s (3-7).

Jerome Gumbs scored 19 points to help host San Francisco (9-4) hang on for a 65-61 victory over Pennsylvania (4-5).... Thomas Gardner had 14 points at Columbia, Mo., as Missouri (8-5) scored a 64-51 victory over American (6-5).... Jarrius Jackson scored 24 points at Lubbock, Texas, to lead Texas Tech (8-3) to an 88-68 victory over Northern Colorado (3-13).... Chris Copeland scored a 25 points at Richmond, Va., as Colorado (8-3) held on for a 75-69 victory over Richmond (5-6).

USC will not rush Errick Craven back into action with a sprained right ankle. He continues to receive therapy and has not worked out with the team since being injured during a practice early last week. “I don’t expect him to be ready for Thursday’s game,” Coach Jim Saia said.

Stanford freshman guard Tim Morris, who averaged 7.4 points in 12 games, was declared academically ineligible by the NCAA. Sophomore forward Evan Moore also announced that he was leaving the basketball team to concentrate on football.

Candice Wiggins scored 15 points to lead No. 8 Stanford (11-2, 3-1 Pacific 10) to its 30th consecutive conference home win with a 74-61 victory over Washington (6-8, 2-2).... Leigh Gregory and Jessica Lawson scored 14 points apiece at Berkeley and California (8-5, 2-2 Pac-10) scored a 64-56 victory over Washington State (4-9, 0-4).... Monique Currie had 21 points at Durham, N.C., and No. 2 Duke (14-1) held Holy Cross (5-8) to 26% shooting in a 101-42 rout.... Rashidat Sadiq scored 16 points at Storrs, Conn., and No. 15 Connecticut (8-3, 2-0 Big East) cruised to an 83-33 victory over Providence (1-12, 0-2)....No. 23 New Mexico (10-1) set a team record for margin of victory in a 101-22 win over Morgan State (1-8) at Albuquerque.
