Baylor Barely Gets Past Oklahoma State

Steffanie Blackmon was fouled under the basket with 0.9 seconds left and made both free throws to give No. 7 Baylor a 67-65 victory over Oklahoma State on Saturday at Stillwater, Okla.

The Cowboys’ ensuing inbounds pass went out of bounds and the Bears ran out the clock. Baylor improved to 15-3 overall and 5-3 in the Big 12 Conference.

“I thought Blackmon made a good, powerful drive in there and tried to finish or create something,” Baylor Coach Kim Mulkey-Robertson said. “That’s what you hope for.”

Oklahoma State (6-11, 1-6), which has beaten a top 10 team at Gallagher-Iba Arena each of the last two seasons, was unhappy with the call against forward Destanie Sykes.

“Who calls a foul?” said Nina Stone, who led Oklahoma State with 20 points.

“I’m sorry ... I’m sorry. I don’t understand. Who calls a foul with point-nine seconds left on the game clock? You’ve got to just let us play the game.”

Cowboy Coach Julie Goodenough wouldn’t comment directly on the foul, saying only “I would like to have gone to overtime.”

No. 14 Boston College 72, Pittsburgh 55 -- The Eagles (15-3, 6-1) scored 14 straight points to take a 16-2 lead in the Big East game at Boston and beat the Panthers (11-8, 3-5) for the 13th consecutive time.

No. 15 Texas 71, Missouri 52 -- The win at Columbia, Mo., gave the Longhorns (12-6, 5-2) their 11th in 12 games against the Tigers (7-12, 1-7), who have lost seven in a row.

The victory also gave Texas its 100th Big 12 victory. Only Texas Tech, with 103 wins, has more.

No. 16 Kansas State 81, Colorado 70 -- Kendra Wecker, who leads the Big 12 in scoring, had 28 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Wildcats (16-3, 7-1) past the Buffaloes (8-10, 1-6) at Boulder, Colo. It was their seventh win in a row.

No. 18 Iowa State 73, Oklahoma 60 -- The Cyclones (16-2, 6-1), the best three-point shooting team in the Big 12, made 13 of 27 in beating the Sooners (11-7, 3-4) at Norman, Okla. The Sooners, on the other hand, missed 27 of 33 shots from three-point range.

No. 20 Maryland 84, Arizona 77 -- Shay Doron converted a three-point play with 40 seconds left in overtime, helping the Terrapins at Tucson.

Crystal Langhorne scored with 1:18 left in overtime to give Maryland (14-5) a 77-75 lead, and the Terrapins finally took control on Doron’s three-point play.

Arizona (15-6) led, 69-67, with 3.2 seconds left in regulation. Maryland’s Jade Perry made an eight-foot jumper at the regulation buzzer.

Doron, who had four free throws in overtime, led all scorers with 26 points.
