Dealing with mental illness

Thank you for Paula Woods’ review of Bebe Moore Campbell’s novel “72-Hour Hold” and the accompanying piece on the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill [Book Review, July 3]. My 26-year-old daughter’s battle with refractory (treatment-resistant) depression, her knowledge of her illness and the key role of NAMI is worth 100 novels. As a caregiver for my daughter, I have found that the NAMI chapter in my area has been crucial in helping me deal with her while assuring that I still live my own life.
