Former Prime Minister Convicted of Graft

Nepal’s former prime minister, Sher Bahadur Deuba, and a member of his Cabinet, Prakash Man Singh, were convicted of embezzlement by the king’s anti-corruption commission and sentenced to two years in prison, a judge said.
King Gyanendra set up the commission after firing Deuba’s government Feb. 1 as part of a wider sweep to seize power.
