Man Killed in House Fire Is Identified
A man who died in a fire that gutted his Fullerton home was identified Wednesday as James Louis Koehler, a chain smoker who used an oxygen tank, officials said.
Firefighters found Koehler seated in a living room chair shortly after the blaze at 2:20 p.m. Tuesday in the 1700 block of West Avenue, said Fullerton Police Sgt. Linda King.
Koehler’s housekeeper, Sofina Tabares, escaped through a bedroom window and was not injured.
Officials said the fire began in the living room and may have been started by a burning cigarette fueled by the oxygen tank. An investigation is continuing.
