Two shows at Kodak canceled
The final two shows in a four-show musical theater series at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood have been canceled, with about 2,300 season ticket holders left without refunds.
“Footloose,” which was scheduled for next week, and an August engagement of “American Hot Wax” were canceled after the presenter, Sunwoo Theatrical Entertainment, “ran out of money,” said the group’s attorney, Irv Gross.
Buyers of individual and group tickets can get refunds through the Kodak and Ticketmaster. But subscribers who bought directly from Sunwoo so far are only being offered tickets to other shows in Redondo Beach, San Bernardino, Temecula and Escondido.
The Kodak’s new management company, TheatreDreams, which took over in April, “inherited this terrible situation,” said co-founder William Becker. He said his company wants to bring in pre-Broadway tryouts and might start its own musical series at the Kodak.
