Fill Those Containers
Re “Councilman Wants to Dump the Dumps,” June 24: The Times reports “free trash pickup costs the city $209 million annually.” I pay a monthly “sanitation equipment charge” of $11 for this service! Before the City Council starts charging residents, as other cities do, people must be told not to put out their containers until they’re at least three-quarters full. I live alone. It can take a few months to fill mine. Every time a truck stops to lift a nearly empty container, it costs everyone more money.
