Cisco Eliminates ‘Poison Pill’ Provision

Cisco Systems Inc. eliminated a provision that would help the company repel an unwelcome takeover attempt.
The so-called poison pill expired Monday, San Jose-based Cisco said in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Poison pills, used by companies that don’t want to be acquired, typically trigger the issuance of shares to make the target prohibitively expensive.
