Maintenance Worker Is Killed in Freak Accident
A freak industrial accident killed a 67-year-old maintenance worker at Chapparosa Park on Tuesday. Authorities did not release his name.
The accident occurred about 1 p.m. as two employees of True Green Maintenance, a company contracted to work at the park, drove a John Deere Gator vehicle described by a sheriff’s spokesman as similar to a golf cart but used for maintenance hauling. When the vehicle got a flat tire, spokesman Lt. Larry Abbott said, the 67-year-old got out to fix it while the other man stayed at the wheel.
“He inadvertently backed up over his head and chest and crushed him,” Abbott said.
