Envoy Says Warrants Out for 5 Uganda Rebels
From Times Wire Reports
The International Criminal Court has issued its first arrest warrants, naming five members of Uganda’s notorious Lord’s Resistance Army, said William Lacy Swing, the top U.N. envoy to the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The LRA has abducted more than 30,000 children, forcing them to become fighters, porters or concubines. The group has killed thousands of civilians and forced more than 1,000,000 from their homes.
Officials in The Hague, where the court is based, would not comment.
