Knuble Keys Flyer Win
OTTAWA — Mike Knuble scored twice, and Simon Gagne had a goal and an assist to lead the Philadelphia Flyers to a 5-3 win over the Ottawa Senators on Sunday night.
Jeff Carter and Jon Sim also scored for Philadelphia.
Zdeno Chara scored twice and assisted on Wade Redden’s goal for Northeast Division-leading Ottawa, which won, 8-0, in Toronto a night earlier.
Philadelphia, which lost an early 2-0 lead, went back ahead on a power play 14:52 into the second period when Knuble was credited with his fifth goal of the season. The Flyers went up, 3-2, as Eric Desjardins’ point shot struck Knuble after it deflected off Senator forward Chris Kelly on its way past goalie Dominik Hasek and into the net.
Sim scored the Flyers’ third power-play goal of the game at 19:40 of the second to make it 4-2. Knuble made it a three-goal lead 1:14 into the third.
Hasek lost for the second time in eight starts; the Senators had won all four of their previous home games.
