The deer must go
Re “Park’s Plan to Shoot Deer Has Critics Up in Arms,” March 31
Point Reyes National Seashore, a unit of the National Park System, is not some make-believe fantasy land where unicorns emerge from the fog to delight park visitors.
Therefore, the Park Service, in this case led by Supt. Don Neubacher, is to be applauded for making tough decisions and moving forward with a plan to remove two species of nonnative wildlife from the park. If people want to see exotic species of deer, go to the zoo. As for unicorns, go to the movies.
From its fog-shrouded forests to its misty estuary, Point Reyes National Seashore deserves the stewardship efforts of the Park Service. It deserves our support.
