Conrad Helps Keep Wizards Unbeaten
Jimmy Conrad, making his season debut, scored on a header off a corner kick in the fourth minute to lead the host Kansas City Wizards over the New England Revolution, 1-0, Saturday night.
The Wizards (3-0-0) got their first shutout this season and opened with three wins for the first time in franchise history.
Conrad, playing for the first time since surgery March 31 to repair a sports hernia, headed a high-arching shot from about 10 yards that goalkeeper Matt Reis couldn’t reach.
D.C. United 2, Houston 0 -- Joshua Gros and Christian Gomez each scored their first goals this season.
United (2-0-1), which has played its first three games at home, is off to its best start since 1999.
The Dynamo (1-2-0) lost its second game in a row without suspended forward Dwayne De Rosario (red card).
Colorado 2, FC Dallas 2 -- Clarence Goodson knocked the ball into his own goal three minutes into second-half stoppage time to help the Rapids salvage a tie at Denver.
Greg Vanney scored on a direct free kick from about 27 yards in the fifth minute and Roberto Mina gave Dallas (2-0-1) a 2-0 lead 20 minutes later.
Jovan Kirovski scored for Colorado (1-1-1) on a penalty kick in the 39th minute.
New York 1, Real Salt Lake 1 -- Jason Kreis scored in the 89th minute to lift Real Salt Lake to a tie with the Red Bulls at Salt Lake City.
The Red Bulls (0-0-3) took the lead on a goal by Amado Guevara in the 78th minute.
Salt Lake (0-2-1) extended its winless streak to 15 games.
Chicago 1, Columbus 1 -- Chris Rolfe scored for the Fire (0-1-2) and Sebastian Rozental converted a penalty kick for the Crew (0-2-1) in its home opener.
