Fair and balanced?

CHARLES McNULTY’S act as a defender of freedom of speech is sadly lacking in authenticity [“Uncomfortable in Our Seats,” April 16].

He is revolted by the idea of a controversial play having an intellectual defense of an opposing viewpoint presented in something as simple as the program handed out to the audience. Since when does a young American with unknown credentials (except being accidentally killed in a debatable cause) get to take center stage with a polemical attack on a small nation with no balance to the presentation? Is this what McNulty’s idea of “good theater” is all about?
