Seattle 10, at Baltimore 5: The Mariners trailed, 3-0, before scoring all their runs in the final four innings. Richie Sexson and Kenji Johjima connected against Eddy Rodriguez in a four-run eighth that made it 9-4 and all but assured Seattle its seventh win in nine games.

at Minnesota 15, Texas 2: The Twins scored five runs in the first. Justin Morneau’s pop fly dropped among Rangers left fielder Carlos Lee, center fielder Gary Matthews Jr. and shortstop Michael Young for a run batted in. Michael Cuddyer added an RBI, and Josh Rabe hit a three-run homer.

Chicago 8, at Kansas City 4: The White Sox’s Jose Contreras, who had lost his previous three starts after his 17-game winning streak ended July 14, earned the win. He struggled early, giving up three runs over the first two innings but settled down, retiring 11 straight at one point.
