Qualcomm Acquires Chip Designer Berkana
From Bloomberg News
Qualcomm Inc. bought Berkana Wireless Inc. for $56 million to add lower-cost chip designs for radio frequency wireless circuits.
Berkana’s designs will help San Diego-based Qualcomm more cheaply develop so-called third-generation chips for phones.
Berkana is based in Campbell, Calif., and doesn’t manufacture the chips it designs.
