Firefighters Agree to Pay Disclosure Fine
The political committee of the United Firefighters of Los Angeles has agreed to pay $1,500 in fines for failing to properly disclose three independent expenditures aimed at benefiting the 2001 campaign of City Councilman Tony Cardenas, according to an agreement released Thursday.
The firefighters union paid for campaign literature supporting Cardenas’ campaign for council but did not file notices of the spending within 24 hours and did not submit copies of the mailers to the Ethics Commission, as required by city law.
The ethics panel is set to vote on the agreement Tuesday.
