Down’s Syndrome More Common Than Believed

Down’s syndrome is more common in the United States than previously thought, according to a new government report issued Thursday.
The report estimated one case of the disorder for every 733 live births. Previously, Down’s syndrome, a type of retardation caused by a genetic mutation, was estimated to occur in a range of one case every 800 to 1,000 live births.
