Tar Heel Women Coast By Clemson

Even during the warmups, North Carolina’s Camille Little knew she had her shooting touch Friday night at Chapel Hill, N.C.

She ended up needing only 22 minutes to record 16 points and seven rebounds in the fifth-ranked Tar Heels’ 102-61 victory over Clemson in an Atlantic Coast Conference women’s basketball opener for both teams.

“I could feel everything was going well in the pregame,” said Little, whose team made 65% of its shots in the first half to lead, 61-28, at the break. It was the second consecutive game that North Carolina (14-0) had more than 100 points and it was the Tar Heels’ highest point total since a 106-40 victory over East Tennessee State on Nov. 24, 2002.

The Tigers (6-9) lost to North Carolina for the ninth consecutive time.

No. 24 Temple 77, Charlotte 69 -- The Owls (9-3, 1-0) extended their Atlantic 10 Conference winning streak to 23 games by defeating the 49ers (8-5, 1-1) at Philadelphia.

In a late Thursday night men’s game:

Hawaii 73, Nevada 69 -- The Warriors withstood a career-high 37 points and 15 rebounds from Nick Fazekas and held on to defeat the Wolf Pack in overtime at Honolulu. Hawaii (8-4 overall, 2-0 Western Athletic Conference) kept Fazekas scoreless in the extra period.

The Wolf Pack (10-3, 0-1) suffered its second consecutive road defeat after winning its previous 14 on the road, dating to last season.
