Best Man Is Sentenced for Honeymoon Blaze
From Times Wire Reports
A newlywed couple’s best man was sentenced to nine years in prison for torching the groom’s house while the couple was on their honeymoon.
Joseph T. Overton pleaded guilty to arson. He had been the best man at the wedding of Anthony and Shannon Williams two days before the fire last April.
Anthony Williams said he and Overton had argued a year before the fire, after he told Overton’s wife that Overton had been cheating on her. But they patched things up, Williams said, and Overton toasted the couple at their wedding.
