Suspicious Containers Prompt School to Close
An elementary school was evacuated Friday after a janitor found two plastic bottles he thought were explosives.
About 500 pupils at College View Elementary in the 6500 block of Lennox Drive were escorted to nearby Spring View Middle School after the bottles, one with a cell phone nearby, were found about 8 a.m.
Police determined that the containers, filled with an unidentified substance that smelled like ammonia, were harmless.
The elementary school will reopen Tuesday, officials said.
