Man Is Charged With Defrauding AOL Users

A California man was charged with defrauding America Online subscribers as part of a so-called phishing scheme whereby he sent thousands of e-mails made to look like they came from AOL’s billing department.
Jeffrey Brett Goodin, 46, of Azusa was charged with unauthorized use of a credit card as well as wire fraud, the U.S. attorney’s office in Los Angeles said. He faces a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison if convicted.
