2 Boys Arrested at School in Gun Case

A 12-year-old boy and a 13-year-old boy were arrested at an El Monte school Thursday after an anonymous caller alerted police to a gun on campus. Durfee School was locked down about three hours while it was searched, police said. They found ammunition and loaded magazines in the backpack of a boy who admitted passing a gun to a classmate. Police found a loaded handgun in the classmate’s bedroom. Booked on suspicion of firearm possession, the boys were released to their parents.
