Jailed Haitian Priest Is Allowed Care in U.S.

A politically influential Roman Catholic priest arrived in Miami after Haiti’s government temporarily freed him from jail in order to receive leukemia and pneumonia treatment.
The Rev. Gerard Jean-Juste will be treated at Jackson Memorial Hospital, said Ira Kurzban, a lawyer for the cleric. Jean-Juste has been in prison on suspicion of involvement in the killing of prominent Haitian journalist and poet Jacques Roche.
