The naked truth
I fail to see the purpose in John Horn’s article featuring “Quinceanera” filmmakers’ Wash Westmoreland and Richard Glatzer [“The XXX Factor,” July 1]. Westmoreland’s earlier work in adult porn has no relevance to the quality of the film, which recently played to two packed theaters at the L.A. Film Festival.
“Quinceanera” is a fresh and hopeful story of Mexican American teens growing up in a rapidly gentrifying Echo Park. It has been beautifully filmed and the actors are outstanding. It appears that Horn’s choice to focus on the porn industry had more to do with selling newspapers than shedding any light on the subject of the film or the contributions of those who created it.
