Avengers Stop San Jose, 75-61

Sonny Cumbie threw six touchdown passes to lead the visiting Avengers to a 75-61 victory over the San Jose SaberCats on Sunday.

Cumbie completed 23 of 34 passes for 348 yards, and Tony Locke led the Avengers (2-5) in receiving with seven catches for 168 yards and three touchdowns.

Mark Grieb completed 28 of 41 passes for 395 yards and eight touchdowns for the SaberCats (2-5). James Roe had 12 catches for 156 yards and four touchdowns.

Clint Dolezel became the third AFL quarterback to throw 700 career touchdown passes, finishing with eight in the visiting Dallas Desperados’ 64-35 victory over the Tampa Bay Storm (4-3). Dallas improved to 6-1.... Nick Browder threw five touchdown passes and ran for another score in relief of the injured Juston Wood to lead the New York Dragons (4-3) to a 59-56 victory over the host Austin Wranglers (5-2). Wood dislocated his kneecap.
