U.S.-Led Group Raises Offer for VNU Buyout

A U.S.-led consortium increased its offer to buy Dutch publishing company VNU and extended the deadline for tendering shares two more weeks.
The alliance of six private equity groups upped the sale price to 7.7 billion euros ($9.7 billion) from 7.5 billion euros and set May 19 as the closing day for tendering shares.
The consortium comprises AlpInvest Partners, Blackstone Group, Carlyle Group, Hellman & Friedman, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. and Thomas H. Lee Partners.
