Outfest takes over the town
Bookended by Orpheum Theatre screenings of “Puccini for Beginners” opening night July 6 and “20 Centimeters” on July 17, this year’s Outfest film festival will be all over Los Angeles -- encompassing nine venues from downtown to Santa Monica.
As usual, the festival of gay and lesbian movies covers a lot of territory, and among the 207 shorts and features will be the documentary “Wrestling With Angels: Playwright Tony Kushner” and Edward Burns’ tale of tough-guy pre-matrimony jitters, “The Groomsmen.” (No, it’s not a gay movie, but one of the guys is very much in the closet.)
