Elections were bad news for Iraq war ‘profiteers’
Regarding “A new landscape awaiting investors?” Market Beat, Nov. 12:
With the Democrats in control of the House and Senate, there may indeed be sectors of the economy that are negatively affected. Those on Wall Street who have been profiting mightily from the Iraq war may have to seek investments that do not depend for their returns on fraud, abuse and the blood of our young people in uniform.
On the day we invaded Iraq, I sold off every stock in my portfolio in any way connected to defense investments, as I refused to profit from President Bush’s ill-conceived adventure.
To do otherwise would have made me a war profiteer and therefore, as Harry S Truman defined it during World War II, a traitor.
