‘Putnam’ cast to reunite in L.A.
The original Broadway cast of the Tony Award-winning musical “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” will reunite for a four-week run at the Wadsworth Theatre in L.A., beginning May 24.
A presentation of Broadway/L.A., the production had been scheduled to run eight weeks at the 499-seat Brentwood Theatre. But when the producers found that, if they made it a shorter run, they could sign all nine actors who originated the “Spelling Bee” roles at Off-Broadway’s Second Stage Theatre in 2005 and then took them to Broadway, the decision was made to move to the 1,378-seat Wadsworth venue.
The show, which won Tonys for actor Dan Fogler and the book by Rachel Sheinkin, will run May 24 to June 17. Tickets go on sale April 15.
