A reader rules on the Opri case
I read “Riding the Stormy Sea of Celebrity Law” (July 22) regarding the Larry Birkhead bill and Debra Opri, his attorney. I must say, as a retired man in his 80s, I thought I saw it all, but I didn’t until I read this article. Birkhead was given six months of legal services by a well-known attorney, had $100,000 advanced on his behalf by Opri for costs of litigation and even got free money in a media deal Opri got him so he could pay his attorneys!
Why doesn’t anyone call Birkhead on the carpet for what he is really doing? He is twisting her arms with lawsuits, state bar complaints and a media “witch hunt” for no other reason than that he does not want to pay a bill. Birkhead should be ashamed of himself, and so should those reporters who allowed themselves to be used by Birkhead.
