Making the movies sing again

The bling was blinding at the Conde Nast-sponsored “Movies Rock” taping at the Kodak Theatre on Dec. 2, where Beyonce, Carrie Underwood, Queen Latifah and Fergie performed famous songs from films. But Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger out-did ‘em all with $3 million in Neil Lane jewels for her performance of “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend.” Presenter 1. Jennifer Lopez bellied up to Kate Hudson backstage; 2. John Legend reached out and touched Mary J. Blige during their “As Time Goes By” duet; and 3. Jennifer Hudson, who belted out “West Side Story’s” “Somewhere,” got a supportive squeeze from legend Rita Moreno, who appeared in the film. After the show, performers Chris Brown, Marc Anthony and Usher chilled out at Boulevard 3, as classic film montages played.

Celebrating ‘Atlanta’

Adrian Pasdar and Leonard Roberts may be dead on “Heroes,” but their theater careers are alive and kicking. At the opening night of “Atlanta” at the Geffen Playhouse on Nov. 28, 4. Jennifer Garner, left, beamed down at castmate Ellen Page at the “Juno” premiere in Westwood on Monday, but the “Cyrano de Bergerac” star missed out on bonding over spiked blue slushees after the screening. While Garner caught a red-eye so she could perform the following night, costars Jason Bateman, Allison Janney and producer John Malkovich partied at the Napa Valley Grille, where seasonally themed rooms included faux snow, rust-colored trees and spring flowers.

A vivid appearance

8. Elizabeth Taylor kicked off the color theme of World AIDS Day with her bright red lips and coral-colored Michael Kors gown at a benefit performance of “Love Letters” on Dec. 1 at the Paramount Studios Theatre. The crowd gave the philanthropist a standing ovation when she entered the stage, which she shared with 9. James Earl Jones. Seems she charmed the Writers Guild of America too: They agreed not to picket in front of the studio for the day.
